Antennas for Wireless Communication Prof. Jennifer T. Bernhard University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Abstract: This one-hour presentation will briefly describe the fundamental behavior and characteristics of antennas intended for wireless communication, with an emphasis on antennas for portable devices. Practical issues, such as antenna coupling for MIMO systems and the relationships between antenna characteristics and system performance will be discussed. Bio: Prof. Bernhard has been at the University of Illinois since 1999, where her group focuses on the development and analysis of multifunctional reconfigurable antennas and their system-level benefits as well as the development of antenna synthesis and packaging techniques for planar and integrated antennas. In 2008, Prof. Bernhard served as the President of the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society. For more information, see http://antennas.ece.illinois.edu.
